Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the
Board of Commissioners on May 22, 2006
Meeting called to order by Chairman Rick Stone at 10:00 at
the Administrative Office. Present were: Commissioners Stone and
Norton, Chief Pollock, District Operations Captain Doughty and
Administrative Assistant Rumelhart. Commissioner Layton was absent due
to a doctor appointment.
Guests or Public Appearances:
Payment of Bills:
- The outstanding bills were reviewed and discussed.
Commissioner Norton moved that the following vouchers be approved for
payment:
- General Fund (646-002-010)
- Voucher numbers: FD06-054 through FD06-058, totaling
$2,665.39.
- Rescue Fund (646-002-020)
- Voucher numbers: RD06-151 through RD06-154 totaling
$1,855.23.
Commissioner Stone seconded the motion. The motion passed 2-0.
Correspondence:
- A letter was received from the Washington Fire Commissioner
Association discussing new medical insurance options.
- A medical device recall notice was received from Bound Tree
Medical. The Fire District does not have the recalled device.
Reports:
- Administrative Assistant
- Account balances were given.
- Commissioner Stone
- Station 23 (Tiger) – Nothing to Report.
- Station 24 (Riveredge Estates) – Nothing to Report.
- Tax Rate – A discussion was held on the current Fire
District tax rate and putting a levy lid lift request on the November
ballot.
- Commissioner Layton
- Not present due to doctor appointment.
- Commissioner Norton
- Grants – Nothing new on the FEMA grant. Looking at
applying for a Lions Club International ambulance grant.
- Loan – Additional information has been sent to the USDA.
- Chief Report
- A discussion was held on ambulance, paramedic and fire
service funding.
- The repair and outfitting of Rescue 23 as a brush engine
was discussed.
- A proposal to slightly change the district letterhead was
approved.
- Chief Pollock attended a week long origin and cause
investigation class, which Region 9 paid for.
- A discussion was held on the county wide origin and cause
investigation process.
- An ICS 100 class was taught at Boundary Dam.
- District Operations Captain
- Vehicle Title – R23 title paperwork is being looked for
in Auburn.
- Medic 23 had an engine fire caused by the a/c compressor
locking up. This caused the voltage regulator to fail and the
compressor belt to catch fire. It is currently being repaired.
- Of the eleven of the EMT class students that finished the
class, ten passed the test.
- A partnership for EMS responses with the Border Patrol
was discussed.
- The current Medical Program Director, Dr. Weir, is
resigning as soon as a replacement can be found.
- As of today there has been 98 EMS runs and 9 fire runs.

- Policy Update – The CPR policy update was tabled.
New Business:

- Engine 21 repairs.
- EMS funding article in Selkirk Sun.
- Ione contract renewal and contracts in general.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:31. The next meeting will be the
regular meeting at 10:00 AM on Monday June 12th at the Administrative
Office.
