Minutes of the Continued Meeting of the
Board of Commissioners on May 15, 2004
Meeting called to order by Chairman Stone at 10:00 at the Administrative Office, Metaline Falls, WA. Present were: Commissioners Layton, Miller and Stone, Administrative Assistant Rumelhart, District Chief Pollock, Station 22 Lieutenant Johnson, Paramedic Doughty, and member of the public Michele Ellsworth. EMS Training Officer Miller and member of the public Shasta Davis arrived at 10:15.
The preliminary continued agenda was amended and approved.
Old Business:
- Employee Discipline – The 30 day suspension of Frank Lynch has been fulfilled, therefore Commissioner Stone moved that Frank Lynch’s resignation be accepted and the finding of the investigation be placed in his personnel for one year. Commissioner Layton seconded the motion and the motion passed unanimously.
- Chief Expectations – A discussion of the expectations of the District Chief was held. The discussion changed into a discussion on whether or not Chief Pollock was qualified for the position and whether or not the commissioners were being dishonest with each other. Commissioner Stone and Chief Pollock verbally resigned from the Fire District and left the meeting at 10:20. After additional discussion, Commissioner Layton moved that Brad Larson be reinstated as Acting Chief. Commissioner Miller seconded the motion. The motion passed 2-0.
New Business:
- Application – An application from Cassandra Egerton-Lyons was reviewed. Commissioner Layton moved the application be accepted. Commissioner Miller seconded the motion. The motion passed 2-0.
- Reassignment of duties – Commissioner Miller moved that the responsibility for scheduling the ambulance crew be reassigned from the Administrative Assistant to the Paramedic. Commissioner Layton seconded the motion. The motion passed 2-0.
- Additional discussions were held regarding the release of information to the public, the organization chart, changing the password on the web site, recruiting a new chief and recruiting a new commissioner.
The meeting adjourned at 11:03, next meeting June 14, 2004, 19:00 at the Administrative Office.
